Linzy initially it was a friendly argument, but now its getting personal! You misspelled my name..lol.

Its Danyaal, and its the same as Daniel, just a regional spelling.

Danyaal

I am inclined to agree with you too LeeFind!

Well said...

Now I have a question...

Do you think if i was able to handle my bf amazon, O'Reilly and clip his wings he would feel a little safer and have more confidence? Because if that's what it takes i will do it in a New York Minute! i love the bird but he is irrational... he now steps up when he feels like it & then attacks me... like he changed his mind or realised he might like it! lol Huh Huh

he was abused before i got him so i do understand...he needs time to heal and probably a mate, that i understand too... she was taken away and sold!

he's so beautiful, i want to let him out of his cage to check things out and do his thing... however last time i did he dive bombed me! the cuts on my hands took over week to heal... i have ceiling fans, the stove is always going( i am a personal chef & work from home) so the dangers are there!

i am leaning towards letting a breeder have him... maybe that's all he wants? But i refuse to give up over a misunderstanding... he attacked me, i don't like it!  I think he thinks it's what's expected... Roll Eyes

i don't know, but i will not tolerate another vicious attack like the last one! but if i can improve his life and attitude, Bravo to me! I used to raise and show german shepherds & rottweilers... bona fide Canadian Champions! i would never have let an aggressive dog or fear biter loose because it was his personality or birthright! i would take every step to correct it... if it means having the dog muzzled  or neutered to make him a better citizen... then so be it. these animals are living in population, with humans, they are not living in the wild. We have to establish a happy medium! we have no choice... Animal Shelters are under-funded and over stocked! I am a responsible adult who loves to have animals in my life! I am commited to their health & well-being, emotional and financial...

i know the relationship with my greys is different... they have NEVER been handled, and all i want is to feed and take care of them... but a baby? hmmm   Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy

thank you Loopy! Hello karine!

Now i would like to attempt it myself... with assistance of course... what would be your suggestion on the best way to approach this?

I have clipped My Boyfriends' Moluucan Cockatoo "Farinelli" before... he is totally tame and loving... o'Reilly on the other hand is a gremlin!  Grin

i would like to avoid the stress of travel to the vet... if i can... so i guess i need my leather jacket, gloves, a towel, good trimmers, the lawn mower and weed whacker...  Grin

just kidding peeps!

iv had my baby 3 weeks and i dont think id clip him. I am training him to not just step up but to fly to me, which he is and does. I cant imagine clipping him and taking away his power of flght. I cant imagine him sitting on the door and not being able to fly to me. I also have an amazon 15 years, never been clipped, and very happy, BUT i did lose a jardine, he was clipped, but still flew away when out in the garden not long ago, but that was my stupid mistake, and one that i have payed for in loss, but for 12 years i never clipped her, but then i did, and i had her in the cage in the garden, she got out cos the door was not locked right, and she went onto a roof, then into tress and into the woods. Never saw her again. Id like to think if she had full wings she would have had a better chance. I think that clipping or taking away the power of flight is not right, and the bird has a right to fly. But of course its my opinion, and it suits my lifestyle and my house, and my pets.
