i dont usualy post pics of my fosters but this one is very special. it makes me ashamed to be part of the human race. picked up on xmas eve having been dumped in the snow he then had 7 days in the pound before being passed to me acting obo the rescue i volunteer with. he has had an eye removed this week. had it been addressed when it first became affected it could well have been saved. his vision in the other eye is very slight, but with treatment may be saved and vision restored. his eye was removed the day we took him into our care as an emergency at my vets. he is 6kg, the size of a yorkie. please meet little Snowy...

jules snowy did look realy sorry for himself to start with, depressed and disinterested in life but hes realy perking up now. hes learning the layout of my bungalow, but still takes a few wrong turns and walks into things, and the other dogs have had a bell added each to their collars so he knows where they are and can follow if he wants. hes started trying to join in their games. iv got him a babble ball today so he can hear where its rolling to , but i need to lock the others up before having a game with it or harley will be gone with it lol. snowy may possibly be staying with me as a lifetime foster, but its not decided yet.

I thank God every day for people like you. As I have for many years now, also have been committed to rescuing animals both wild and domestic. As I worked in a small animal hospital I had the unfortunate experiences of having to work with these animals. The ignorance of SOME people leaves me bewildered. Ingury to an eye is always an emergency up front and formost. Some people think that they don't feel the pain and leave their eyeballs in the most horrific shape which ultimately requires enucliation (eyeball removal). Like your poor little guy. Only if he could speak! I think he has found the home for the rest of his life. I do hope you consider it. Some individuals do not think that their pooch is deserving of medical attention until most of the time it is too late. Just wish that people would understand that their pet is not just an item, but a soul- feeling life. Sorry for rambling. Once again God Bless You. Zulu's mom

He is so sweet. I hate hearing stories like this, how anyone can treat an animal like that just amazes me. It's just great that people like you are doing what you can. I keep saying that when I have my own home I going to do something like you're doing. I hope he makes a good recovery now.

Hear, hear! And I resolved some months ago that *all* my pets will be rescues from now on. Cheers, Julie

hes doing great thank you. hes had his stitches out now and his character is realy starting to shine thru. the hair on his ears is growing back thru and a little around his nose , the auto immune test came back as negative so unbsure what caused it to fall out in the first place, could be a food intolerance, bad diet or because he was in poor health. he has to now see a canine opthalmologist about his remaining eye to find out whether they can do anything with it to restore his vision.
iv made a sad decision snowy wont be staying with me permanently, its not that i wouldnt love him to, but because realy he needs a differant home than i can give him. he has a fear of buddy my staffy due to him being so bouncy, snowy cant see him and so starts air snapping in fear. iv tried putting cow bells on the dogs so he can locate them better, but hed realy be happier long term in a home with either no dogs or quiet laid back dogs, so at some point hel be moving on when theres nothing more i can do to help his recovery, or if one of the other fosterers offer him a permanent home. its not common knowledge with the other fosterers that snowy will be moving on yet , were expecting a few offers as hes very popular and very sweet.
if i kept him it would realy make this a full house and stop me from helping other dogs back to health here. just this week wev had one in with a brken pelvis and broken femur. theres a chance hel be coming here next, but it depends how long in between vets visits as to whether its feasible.
iv realy enjoyed watching snowy recover and fussing round him, i wouldnt have missed it for anything, but i still am speechless as to how someone can throw out a little dog in the snow at xmas because he had a problem that needed a vet. well that anyone could do it whatever the circumstances. it makes me ashamed to be part of the human race.

I understand. I am confident that you will find him a warm and loving home. Many people do not understand the importance of altering their dogs and cats. The tremendous suffering that goes on due to the over-population. I'm really not sure why a lot of irresponsible individuals claim the excuse is because they don't have the money. Well, then they shouldn't have the animal in the first place. I hope that soon it will be mandated that every pet be altered. I understand that it will be on the local ballot this year. Only a beginning. Along with the suffering comes the tremendous tax burden for euthanizing and capturing these unfortunate souls. That is; the ones that don't get rescued by people like you. Once again, thank you for all that you do...Zulus mom
