Hello,
I was in the pet store today, and they had the longest dog rope I have ever seen!  The thing had 5 knots in it, and was about 5ft. long.  I thought, "hey, what a great 'rope' ladder for a grey!"  It was also reasonably priced; about $12.  My only concern is that the dye they use might be harmful to birds.  I know that it is safe for dogs, but are birds different about this?  They did not have a natural color one.  I also have heard that natural rawhide is safe for them to chew on.  If a grey could use some of these dog toys, it might save me some 'pesos'! Cheesy
Any thoughts???

Yeah both are fine. They use the same kind of rope in some bird toys. Also, look in the rodents section. I have a cargo net for blue which was designed for rats or ferrets and flat perches which were made for chinchillas, balls made for rabbits and guinea pigs etc.

Problem with the bird section is its usually aimed at budgies or lovies etc, for stronger birds the toys just won't stand up to their strength! Blue costs me a fortune replacing toys for the other birds because he decided to play with them and broke them in two seconds flat :/

I agree. Dog toys, are also great for bird toys! Ropes, tug of war toys, as this is Sophie's favorite game! Usually anything my pups like, so does Sophie, as she plays with them, all the time! She is struggling without them, as I can't pick them up from boarding after vacation, until Monday! She keeps asking for them! She keeps saying, "Ollie, Zoey", where are you? Ollie, Zoey, you need  to go outside now!!!! I keep telling her "soon!"   Nancy M

I would go for it.  Shouldn't hurt your bird any.
