as you all know i have a problem with Peggy chewing her feathers, after trying everything to stop her without success and her being a shy timed little thing compared to Georgie, i have decided to put Georgie in the lounge in a other cage foe a while to see if this helps Peggy coz Georgie is a fat boisterous thing, poor Peggy cant cope so lets hope this helps, i am going to monitor Peggy to see if she stops or at least cuts down on the chewing am i doing the correct thing

well, if she hasn't changed her tactics over time, I guess you're doing the right thing, let's hope this will have positive impact on Peggy. One thing is for sure, they will both call each other with all the strength of their lungs.

I'm hoping the separation will make them bond better so eventually they can be together

does peggy and georgie play out together at the same time? you could try one to one with just peggy while georgie stays in his cage? if he is too much for her

i put Georgie in the lounge every morning to give Peggy a bit of peace she is no problem, Peggy seems to be enjoying the time alone she doesn't seem to have chewed many feathers the last couple of days she is very happy singing, whistling and shouting to Georgie, when i come home from work i let them both out in their separate rooms Peggy sits on my shoulder happily while i do my jobs and Georgie sits on the door watching us shouting and whistling they have their tea in there separate rooms, we then have a hr play time my with Peggy and Del( hubby) with Georgie Georgie wont play with me only Del, Peggy wont play with Del only me, i then put then to bed in the big double cage (it has a divider in ) iv been doing this so Peggy gets use to having Georgie there, I'm just going to keep my eye on things it seems to be working up to now hardly eny chewed feathers on the floor

it is tough to break the habit once they start! I TRULY feel for you! My girlfriends cockatoo chewed so bad, they put him on prozac, and had a special cape built for him!(he has the best life ever!) Who knows why they chew! Nancy M

when i was talking to sandi she said it was a mixture of stress, and boredom it all started when we moved and Peggy's cage was in the window which is easy access to everyone walking past, we think kids were banging on the window scaring her, we also have a neighbour that would suddenly pop her head round the corner shouting hello to her poor Peggy would fall of her perch in shock, that's why we moved the cage to the back room by the patio door so she can see out and talk to next doors cat, if it doesn't get eny better in the nxt month after removing Georgie I'm going to take her to the vet again , Georgie is in the same window and loves the attention

stay strong! I know you are doing the right thing! It is a parent nightmare, that anyone of us can find ourselves in the same situation. I truly believe, it is just a matter of chance, that one of us, will find ourselves in the same situation. We are all here for you, hope we can all help in solving the chewing issue. Let us know how it is going.... we can all brainstorm together! I know it has nothing to do with your parenting. What I DO think will work.... is all parents getting together, outsmarting your baby!( we would just be out smarting them all, since they have all attempted it!) Nancy M
