I thought I would join so I could post.

We brought our dear Cody home about 6 weeks ago.  He is about 4-5 years old.  Our entire family is so enthralled with our silly chatterbox.
Cody absolutely adores my 9 yr old daughter.  He is still nervous towards my husband and myself, and rather likes my young son who scams cookies to share with him.
I have only owned smaller parrots prior to Cody, so we are all on a learning curve, but a fun one.

I am gaining lots of good tips and advice just from cruising the forums.  Thanks for good advice.

Hey! Great to meet you and yours.  Welcome and hope to hear from you often.  How old is your daughter?  My daughter is 6 and my CAG has recently taken a great deal of interest in her, likes to watch her play with her toys and the other morning wouldn't take treats from me but gobbled them up when my daughter offered.  Undecided Undecided  Could be that Cody and Ruby just want a play mate.

Wow, thank you for the very warm welcome!!!  You guys are awesome!

My dd is newly turned 9 years old.  Cody has loved her from the day we brought him home.  http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=205662&id=519268959&l=6b5b3e6f70

He tolerates me but I am nor feeling the love so far.

He has been so much fun since he has gotten comfy here with us.  Silly thing chatters all day long and has so many things he says that make us giggle.  The latest is "Shut your piehole ya retard."
He also makes an uncanny alarm sound.  Dd went to camp for 5 days and now he makes the cody alarm whenever she gets near the front door.  I figure that one will never be able to sneak out when she is a teen. Grin

I can wait for him to warm up to me, as long as he is happy and loves someone here.  I will continue to bribe him.  He will give me kisses for almonds.

Welcome, from Nancy, Sophie, Kiki and Sunny! Don't worry too much about the warming up thing! Many birds will choose either male, or female. I never believed in that, and as my African Grey was adopted at age two (preferred males only), my Sun conure was adopted at age 10, (a rescue, and hated everybody),I believe, all behavior can be changed. Sophie loves each and all of us. Will go to anyone in the family. Sunny, my rescue, does prefer Ryan, my 19 year old, but will go to all of us as well! When we got back from vacation, Sophie jumped to all of us, checking us out, making sure we were all okay!(she did it twice!) Encourage A "family" bonding! We started, by getting in a circle, introducing each other, passing Sophie around. She loves us all!   Nancy M
