Maybe Echo is just showing you that he is trusting you that all is okay, and is calm because he knows you will keep him from harm.

I love your faith in me and my fids . Echo is a funny character with a disasterous history, part of me thinks he is a wild caught bird. To an extent i think you're right, compared to when he first got here he's positively thriving but still panics whenever people go near his cage. At one point i was able to get my hand near him without him flying into a frenzy but blue, in his eagerness to aid echo's rehab, knocked a mirror off the wall behind echo's cage and put us back to the beginning . I sometimes doubt my ability to help him but i cant help but think another move will make him worse, at least here he is fed and clean and safe and has the option to come out if he chooses too. Maybe all he needs is more time and tlc, i have no idea how old he is and i've only had him around 12 months.

It has taken me several weeks to get my head around time and parrots... to them 12 months is really not so long a time... all we can really do is be their friends... they choose us... they are not slavish in devotion like some pets we bring into our home. It really does sound that Echo is coming along in leaps and bounds in a parrot time scale. He may never like people near his cage, he has a strong personality, you have done great things, never doubt yourself as a bird mum. Your doubt is only there because you want to do the right thing by Echo, but you are, so try to stop worrying that you are not.

Ukrey.... Wonder woman it is!!!! LOL Echo will be fine. 12 months is a short time. Echo may think you are a little crazy, but realize he has to be good and get over fears, since his mom tends to be VERY strong and can rip off doors to save him!(just kidding!) Nancy

In a few months we'll have newbies wondering what kind of woman rips down doors and more importantly for what reason

were the proud parents of birds that need us! We rip down doors, we live without curtains if need be, we do CPR (still haven't lived THAT one down at work), we love our babies that chew their feathers.... I could go on and on! If we ever get together for a little baseball game, Nicki is on my team! ( I call it!) (just a little humour from the US) Nancy M

Hey, I've been getting grief from my sister because I've been rocking and singing my little black and tan doxie to sleep. She is the one that was born lame and we have spoiled her so much that she will sleep all evening then wake up about midnight and want to play so I rock and sing and she settles down and goes back to sleep. I'd been saying that if I was younger I'd like another baby because my daughter just turned 6 and is becoming so independent that I miss the baby years. Having to rock and sing to this puppy has cured me of that.
Any way the point I was trying to make is that we all have to be a little tiny bit daft to love our pets so much, in fact I've been know to say that I like my pets more than a lot of people I know.

Count me in Nancy M eventhough like Nicki I haven't played any baseball but I tried my hand at cricket too and I think I can play baseball with a little improvisation.

okay guys.... I am not "daft", (one of your sayings, I get it!) Tell me, what is involved with "cricket?" Whatever it is.... Nicki and Feika are on my team!!!! ( I call it!) Remember, we are playing baseball! All greys are going to be cheerleaders. We need to pick a captain, as well as start an opposing team. Anyone interested in starting a team opposite us? We will pick Captains, after team are formed!!! Nancy

we've got two captains and since both are on opposing sides I guess the matter is resolved amicably. One is with Sweeetnlow aka Nancy Clancey by the name of CJS short for Captain Jack Sparrow, and the second is with me by the name of Captain. The only difference with Cricket and baseball is that no matter if you are missing the ball whole day (six hours' game) you are not going to get out (provided it doesn't hit the wickets) while you're out in baseball if you miss 3 legal pitches.
